Last Day of September 2008

For most of the summer we have been waiting for our building to decide if it would allow canines as full-time residents.  Part of the waiting has been staying elsewhere with Jasper our rakish, boddhihound catahoula.  A wonderful constant has been the ritual of walking to the Dupont Circle Fresh Farm Market for provisions.
Next Step Produce is an organic farm which we always patronize.  The raddicho above is one of my favorite's for fresh salade.  Other favorite foods shown here are; garlic scapes, red lettuce and strawberries.
Farmers also sell; flowers, baked goods, pasta, and animal products (eggs, meats, dairy) at this weekly year round market.
In addition to a healthy walk, the eye candy of the beautiful produce, the delicious meals created with the bounty of our local area - we benefit by knowing that we are supporting organic, low-impact local farmers.

Now that Jasper is the first fully documented legal resident of our building and I'm back in my own kitchen, the fridge is full of beautiful food and I'm planning meals here again.
